You're coming to the 2009 CRMBT and you're thinking what do I need to bring? Here are a few ideas to consider.

Bike: So we would say a good road bike would be best, but we have had mountain bikes, tandems, recumbants and trikes.  So we guess you could try whatever.

Clothes. For the ride you should have the following at a minimum:  adequate rain gear, arm warmers, leg warmers or tights, a good jacket, booties and long fingered gloves. How many pairs of jerseys and shorts, all we can say is fresh is nicer than stale.  HELMET.

You can drop off or pick up clothes at the aid stations, so take advantage of that to ensure your maximum comfort.

Remember Colorado high mountain weather could see 30 degree mornings, 90 degrees mid day and rain. High mountain passes can bring just about anything and quickly--you can count on it.

True story: The 2007 CRMBT had a 19 year old rider from Florida, who signed up for the ride after an extended stay with his aunt in Arvada, CO. Ben had a decent bike and he was a fit 19 year old, but didn’t have any bike apparel. First day, not too bad. Second day getting sore, real sores,  from no bike shorts. Third day getting tired of not having the efficiency of a good pair of shoes. Fourth day, he is the adoptee rider of the group and goodwill riders have given him shoes and shorts. Happy Ending for all.

We will send out a preparation packet in early July.
